The world is not heading in the right direction. With the covid-19 pandemic taking the world by a storm, several other ailments are also eating away people.
The saddest part of the story is that many people lose their lives without even getting diagnosed and receiving proper treatment for the issues they go through or have had. It is precisely why I believe health awareness is mandatory for everyone, regardless of age and gender.
The following are a few common physical and mental ailments that are becoming more and more common with every passing day:
Cardiovascular Disease
Cardiovascular disease or heart disease is an umbrella term for conditions related to the heart. What makes the story sob is that every other person these days has some kind of cardiac issue.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 650,000 in the US. die from cardiovascular disease every year. It means that one in four deaths in the United States is due to heart disease.
Yes, it’s more serious than you can imagine; hence, symptoms like chest tightness, pain, discomfort, and hyperventilation must be never neglected. Also, cardiac rehabilitation should be a part of your everyday life.
Clinical Depression
Clinical depression, also known as major depressive disorder, is one of the most common and severe mental health disorders. It’s a mood disorder characterized by persistent sadness, hopelessness, fatigue, body aches, insomnia, and suicidal thoughts.
As mentioned by the World Health Organization, around 264 million people from around the world are diagnosed with depression every year. Studies also reveal that clinical depression is among the leading causes of suicides worldwide.
However, the great thing is that clinical depression can be naturally treated. From ashwagandha and valerian root to psilo gummies, numerous herbs and plants are naturally packed with healing properties. Thus, they work well for the treatment of clinical depression.
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Arthritis is another severe physical ailment, a joint disorder that has many types. Two of the most common types of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is more severe and it has sadly become quite common these days.
As per statistics, approximately 58.5 million adults in the US visit different physicians every year due to rheumatoid arthritis. It is projected that by 2040, an estimated 78 million Americans would be diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, aging 18 and above.
Stroke
Strokes are also pretty common these days and 87% of the strokes are ischemic strokes. They are caused due to blockage in the arteries that supply oxygen-rich blood to the brain. Blood clots are usually responsible for these blockages.
Another common kind of stroke is a hemorrhagic stroke that happens when an artery in the brain ruptures or leaks, causing internal bleeding and putting excessive pressure on the brain cells. It goes without saying that strokes are exceptionally severe. In fact, they’re deadly.
Many people who happen to have a stroke do not survive. However, chances of immediate treatment as it’s a medical emergency can increase the odds of survival. Although 50-50, it’s possible.
Schizophrenia
Last but not least, schizophrenia is becoming common these days and it’s extremely alarming. It’s a psychotic illness that requires lifelong treatment. Known as the mother of all psychological disorders, schizophrenia is characterized by hallucinations, delusions, and catatonic behavior.
By the WHO fact sheet, schizophrenia affects more than 20 million people worldwide every year. It is also stated that people with schizophrenia are twice more likely to die younger compared to healthy individuals.
Besides that, certain people have different diseases running in their families. All you need to do is be mindful of your health and take care of it at all times. I wish you well, my friends.
