It’s good that Final Fantasy XIV replays events. After all, it would be a waste if players in the new FFXIV account that just got in on the game – and there are a lot of them – would never experience them. And a great event to replay is A Nocturne for Heroes, which is an in-franchise collaboration with Final Fantasy XV.
Driving to Eorzea
The aptly named event will give players the chance to meet Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum, the protagonist of Final Fantasy XV, as he, for some reason, wandered off into Eorzea for some reason. It’s then up to the Warriors of Light to help out a fellow Final Fantasy hero return to his world and take down a few Niflheim soldiers and Magitek armors. How they managed to follow him is also just as much of a mystery.
The event comes with three consecurtive quests. The first is The Man in Black, where players will be meeting Noctis for the first time, along with the Regalia. For those that haven’t played Final Fantasy XV yet or completely have no plans of playing it, that is the name of Noctis’ car. With the tech in the world of Final Fantasy sharing a few similarities with ours, it’s rather cool that the reigning monarchs have an Audi-based car instead of a Magitek carriage or a chocobo.
To start the event, players have to speak to Kipih in Steps of Nald in Ul’dah. Who will tell you that a black vehicle was spotted in Thanalan, as well as mechanical soldiers? Teleport to the Black Brush Station, where there will be a noticeably glowing destination.
By going there, a cutscene will play out, with Noctis talking to the player, asking him or her where they can find a garage for the Regalia. Players can either suggest the Iron Works, and they’ll be helping out Noctis move the car there.
After leaving the Regalia there, return to the Black Brush Station and head east. There, they’ll find Noctis. After a few interactions, the players can finally return to Kipih and claim the reward, which is Fingerless Gloves and a few FFXIV Gil.
Shadowed By a Demon
The next quest is In The Dark of Night. This time around, Niflheim soldiers have been found in the Twelveswood in Gridania. There, players will be inquiring of their sighting with Hadrefort, Mitainie, and Roustebant, and then back to Kipih, who will then say that the soldiers are in the Bramble Patch.
However, instead of finding the soldiers, players will find Iseultalon, a fell fiend that came from Noctis’ world. Beating it will prompt the next cutscenes, showing Noctis being puzzled as to how the demon managed to also arrive to Eorzea. Later on, players will be back to Gridania with Noctis curious about the local fashion.
The Winds and the Royal Car
The last quest is Messenger of the Winds. This time around, players will be in the Jadeite Thick in the Central Shroud, where he will be fishing. He also reveals that he worries that he might not be able to come home – something everyone knows isn’t going to happen. After the short fishing trip, both Noctis and the player will be returning to Gridania, where they’ll find Kipih. She will be informed that the magitek troopers have appeared in Ixali territory and have caused a disturbance, which drove the beastmen to summon the primal Garuda.
Noctis will be saying that he has fought a similar Primal before. And he has, because Final Fantasy XIV had a guest collaboration in Final Fantasy XV, with Noctis and his royal friends fighting the same Primal. Given that Warriors of Light have fought Garuda more than once at this point, this particular fight should be no problem to them.
With all three quests completed, players should finally be able to steal the prince of Lucis’ look. Lastly, to complete the overall imagery, the Regalia Type-G is going to be available in the in-game FFXIV Store, the Gold Saucer, for the duration of the event.
While it can seem like a Regalia would stick out like a sore thumb in Eorzea, there are also other strange FFXIV mounts in the game. For the Twelve’s sake, there is even a flying chair. So go ahead; get that Final Fantasy version of the Cadillac Ciel – we know you want to.
Whether you missed the chance to do the event or you’re a new player doing it the first time, what matters is that you actually do it this time. Help the Prince of Lucis; he very much needs it.
